Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA)

The Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) is a graduate-level certification. Professionals who are certified at this ABA job level are autonomous practitioners providing behavior-analytic services. BCBAs supervise the work of BCaBAs, RBTs, and others who implement behavior-analytic interventions.

BEHAVIORAL THERAPIST JOB DESCRIPTION: Duties & Responsibilities

✓ Conducts intake assessments for patients using provided curriculum

✓ Creates skill-acquisition and behavior reduction programs and strategies

✓ Participates in interdisciplinary collaboration/ meetings with educators, speech, and occupational therapists

✓ Analyzes patient data and makes necessary program modifications

✓ Models implementation of treatment for BCaBAs and RBTs

✓ Evaluates staff performance, provides training, and feedback

✓ Completes progress reports in accordance with structured deadlines

✓ Conducts patient re-assessments when necessary

✓ Conducts caregiver training as required

✓Provides exemplary leadership through hands-on training and modeling of ethical conduct

Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst (BCaBA)

The Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst (BCaBA) is an undergraduate-level certification. Professionals who are certified at this ABA job level work under the supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). However, BCaBAs can supervise the work of RBTs and others who implement behavior-analytic interventions.

BEHAVIORAL THERAPIST JOB DESCRIPTION: Duties & Responsibilities

✓ Conducts Functional Assessments of Behavior (FAB)

✓ Develops Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs)

✓ Models implementation of treatment for RBTs

✓ Monitors implementation of treatment plans and provides feedback

✓ Ensures company standards of data collection by RBTs

✓ Collects data on skill acquisition and behavior reduction when required

✓ Provides ongoing assessments of changes in behavior function

Registered Behavior Technician (RBT)

A Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) is a paraprofessional who works under the supervision of a BCBA or BCaBA.  At this ABA job level, the RBT is primarily responsible for direct implementation of treatment plans related to skill- acquisition and behavior reduction. RBTs also collect data and provide support when needed.

✓ Implements treatment plans

✓ Collects skill acquisition and behavior reduction data

✓ Applies feedback and training on ABA job performance given by the lead BCBA or BCaBA

✓ Provides behavior support inside and outside of the home or classroom when applicable
